Good Health Down South: A Sexual and Reproductive Health Strategy for the Southern Metropolitan Region 2018-2021 was launched in August 2018, and is a 3-year region-wide Strategy that promotes, celebrates and guides future directions that continuously improve Sexual and Reproductive (SRH) outcomes throughout the Southern Metropolitan Region (SMR).

This Strategy is the result of a consultative process with 16 organisations, including local and state government organisations, non-government organisations and other organisations and groups.

The development of the Strategy has been guided by a sexual and reproductive health promotion framework (WHW 2011) that acknowledges the multiplicity of factors that impact on health and wellbeing.

The role and purpose of the Strategy is to promote and improve SRH amongst all people throughout the SMR. Implementation will be overseen by a Steering Committee, comprised of senior representative. A Community of Practice will be responsible for implementing the annual action plans, it will be comprised of practitioners in the region working in SRH.

Together we will coordinate multiple reinforcing activities across the SMR focused on local needs and priorities in the community. By working together, organisations in the SMR will benefit from increased coordination and collaboration, capacity building, and be able to coordinate advocacy to improve the overall SRH of the SMR.

If you would like to become involved in the Strategy, please contact Health Promotion Officer, Jess Elsworth via email: jelsworth@whise.org.au
