This year WHISE celebrated International Women’s Day by acknowledging the contributions of women to their communities in the Southern Metropolitan Region of Melbourne. WHISE in partnership with Bentleigh Bayside Community Health, Bentleigh Secondary College, Rotary and Moongala Community House were able to honour 18 individuals and 5 women’s groups in the categories of:

  • Inspirational Woman
  • Community Contributor (metropolitan)
  • Community Contributor (non-metropolitan)
  • Social Change Agent
  • Future Leader
  • Outstanding Women’s Action Group

A special thank you to Mariam Issa who shared her story of resilience and strength it was both inspiring and encouraging. Head over to find out more about Mariam and her book ‘A Resilient Life’.
