In 2008 WHISE commenced health services in areas where such services were insufficient or non-existent.

Our first health services has been our Movement program, which focuses on the role of exercise and movement in developing and maintaining good physical and mental well-being.

We provide our Movement programs in groups and for individuals, and continuing to expand the range of programs we offer.

In 2009 we have commenced our Counselling services, which will assist women to understand themselves better, and to develop strategies for improving life-patterns and self-image. Our Counselling services will have a preventive focus, as well as a “post-crisis” focus – e.g. for women who have experienced domestic or family violence, have now settled their immediate needs, and are ready to develop ways of avoiding violent relationships in the future.

Planning for future Health Services includes an expansion of our G.P. health information sessions, to include screening services (e.g. pap-screening). In the long term it would be wonderful to have a regular women’s medical clinic operating in conjunction with WHISE.
