Fitness for Work Program

Objectives

  • To provide a program of physical activity as a foundation for the development of overall health and wellbeing, leading to improved confidence and potential to compete in the employment market.

WHISE will work with service organisations and support services to provide this program under contract to the clients identified by the organisation.

Target Client Groups

Long term unemployed women, especially younger women, who experience physical barriers to their chances of employment.

Service Outline

  • Identify likely participants in the program, on the advice of the client
  • Undertake an initial assessment of physical needs, coupled with medical advice, of each participant
  • Develop a program of physical activity for each participant, to be undertaken over a six month period
  • Meet weekly with each participant, initially on an individual basis, and then, as confidence develops, on a group basis
  • Provide advice on nutrition, cooking, healthy eating, and the relationship between physical and mental health
  • Encourage participants to join in other education and training provided by WHISE


Expected Outcomes

  • Improved physical wellbeing, evidenced by appearance, fitness, and willingness to maintain the improvement
  • Improved understanding of the relationship between physical and mental wellbeing
  • Support and encouragement in understanding the value of sustained employment in providing options for life.

Fees

  • Assessment and development of program for specific client needs $500 per client
  • A six month tailored program, combining exercise, movement, nutrition advice, and support $ 2,500 per participant
  • Up to ten participants at any one time
