WHISE has been funded by the Office of Women’s Policy Victoria to provide a Financial Literacy Program for women of CALD background.
This program was developed by Women’s Health in the North (WHIN) and delivered as a pilot program to over 250 CALD women in the northern metropolitan region. The Program has now been expanded throughout Victoria.
The Program involves six workshops of approximately two hours each. The topics covered are selected by each group depending on their previous experience and areas of interest.
Topics include:
The workshops are delivered by WHISE trainers with the aid of interpreters and specialist speakers as required, together with materials and an activity book for participants.
The workshops are designed to give basic skills and information to participants in a way which is culturally relevant, and can be practically implemented for each participant’s personal circumstances.
This particular Program will be run from February – May 2009. Interested women, community groups and organisations may contact WHISE on 9794 8677.
It is intended that the Financial Literacy program will become a regular part of WHISE’s education and training service.
