Introduction to Information Technology

for CALD Women

Objectives

  • To introduce women to information technology and its role in home and workplace
  • To train participants in the basics of computer operations, including Internet and email, and basic operations of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Target Client Groups

  • Women of any age
  • Women of different cultural backgrounds
  • Women who wish to learn IT for employment and education opportunities

Service Outline

  • Assess the incoming knowledge, understanding and skills of the participants, and tailor the IT program accordingly
  • Provide training in small groups (4 participants per trainer)
  • Training program to cover computer familiarisation, Internet and Email, Word, Excel, document storage and security, over approximately 12 sessions
  • Provide training material and computer information to participants, with tasks to be undertaken both in sessions, and, if possible, between sessions


Expected Outcomes

  • Improved understanding of the role and importance of information technology in employment and education
  • Increased confidence in using IT for employment and general purposes
  • Improved understanding of the use of the Internet and email safety
  • Improved skills and ability in software programs (Word and Excel)
  • Increased capacity to collect, store and secure information.

Fees

  • $5 per session
  • $2 for concession card holders
