Early in 2008 WHISE commenced a pilot Outreach Health Information in the Workplace Program, providing health information sessions at workplaces (primarily to school teachers in the first instance). We also increased our Outreach Health Information to Multicultural Groups, focusing on those groups who needed good information and assistance in accessing mainstream health services.

We received good response to these programs, and in 2009, with the assistance of a grant from the Lord Mayor’s Fund, we are extending our Health Information in the Workplace Program to a number of workplaces.

Initially we will concentrate primarily on industrial and commercial workplaces in the Dandenong area – to provide women (and men if they wish to attend) with easier access to the information and services they need. The information sessions will be provided on worksites, at times that suit the workers (e.g. lunch time, end of shift), and on the topics and issues that the workers identify as being important.

In the second half of 2009, we will extend this program to the municipalities of Frankston, Casey and Cardinia, and other municipalities as we identify interested businesses and industries.

If you are interested in taking part in this program, or wish to have the program provided on your worksite, please contact our CEO on 9794 8677.
