Chinese Mother’s Group
The Chinese Mother’s Group aims to reduce social isolation and empower mothers who have migrated to Australia from China by providing education about relevant health issues and services.
The Chinese Mother’s Group is an initiative of WHISE and the South Eastern Region Chinese Friendship Centre. The Chinese Mother’s Group is conducted every Wednesday (during school terms) at Springvale Service for Children (23 – 28 Lightwood Road, Springvale) from 10am – 12pm and involves;
- Providing families who have migrated from China with opportunities to establish friendships and long term social support structures that strengthen social networks and community connectedness.
- Providing up-to-date, accessible information and resources to the local Chinese community on a wide range of women’s health issues and services.
To participate in the Chinese Mother’s Group, an individual must be living in the Southern Metropolitan Region of Melbourne and have young children aged between 0-5 years.
Cost is $2 per session or pay by term.

GirlzOwn
GirlzOwn is a health, educational and social group for secondary-school aged girls of diverse backgrounds.
GirlzOwn provides participants with social and recreational activities, together with information and discussion on health and wellbeing matters. The precise content of the program is developed in discussion with the participants, all of whom must have parental consent to join.
Girlzown can be conducted within the school setting or at WHISE.
Fees: There is no joining fee but participants will be required to pay for any approved activities that have fees attached (e.g. swimming, going to the cinema).
WHISE Lesbian Women's Group
WHISE Lesbian Women's Group is a social group for women who identify as gay, lesbian or bi-sexual.
It aims to provide sessions that look at health, relationships and coming out and discuss issues related to over coming social isolation and the lack of support services in the Southern Metropolitan Region.
The group takes place on 3rd Thursday of every month at WHISE offices.
Next Session: 17th May 2012 from 7.00pm to 9.00pm

Women’s Wellbeing Group
The Women’s Wellbeing Group is a support group for women of all ages and backgrounds that aims to promote health and wellbeing.
The group provides women with the opportunity to meet other women, share experiences, learn about different services and health issue while participating in different activities such as meditation, colour therapy, yoga, henna tattooing, Bollywood dancing etc.
There is no cost to join this group but Gold coin donations are highly appreciated.
The group meets once a month on 4th Wednesday from 1 to 3 pm at WHISE and ERMHA.
