Overview of our organisation’s governance structure and role of its management committee.
WHISE is a not-for-profit registered incorporated association, managed by a Council of Management elected annually (on rotation) by members. The council appoints a Chief Executive Officer who is responsible for the day-to-day management of WHISE, and assists Council in strategic planning, accountability, service development, advocacy and community liaison.
The CEO appoints all staff, who work across the main areas of health promotion, community services, education and training, and direct services. This program comes under the Community Services area of WHISE.
The CEO reports monthly to Council against defined accountability, and financial requirements. Council’s mail role, apart from monitoring and accountability, is to identify the broad parameters (especially service needs) within which specific programs will be developed.
Council is currently considering different ways to engage its communities of interest, to ensure that the work of WHISE is community-based, and to provide Council and the CEO with the priority issues and matters to advocate to government.
