Governance
WHISE is a not-for-profit registered incorporated association, managed by a Board of Management. ‘The Board’ elected annually (on rotation) by members. The Board appoints a Chief Executive Officer who is responsible for the day-to-day management of WHISE, and assists The Board in strategic planning, accountability, service development, advocacy and community liaison.
The CEO appoints all staff, who work across the main areas of health promotion, community services, education and training, and direct services.
The CEO reports monthly to The Board against defined accountability, and financial requirements. The Board's main role, apart from monitoring and accountability, is to identify the broad parameters (especially service needs) within which specific programs will be developed.
The Board are continually working towards different ways of engaging its communities of interest, to ensure that the work of WHISE is community-based, and to provide Board and the CEO with the priority issues and matters to advocate to government.
